Case Study

King’s House Prep School in Richmond required a play that would include 101 pupils from six classes, giving each boy at least two lines to say, with a range of part sizes. For ease of rehearsing, the teacher in charge decided that the ideal structure would be six individual pieces linked together to make a complete evening. An overarching story was devised: a group of boys from the year 3010 discover an old library in which the books come to life. Within the month, bagg theatre provided six brand new ten-minute adaptations of popular fairytales interlinked by scenes from the future. Classes were able to rehearse separately (making life much easier for the director in terms of scheduling, crowd control, stage management etc) and the various segments were then brought together to create a unique school show.

‘I thought the play was very creative, espeicaly  the way all the fairy tales were woven togeather into one play was brilliant. I thought the best bit of the play was the library part with the future kids, they were strange!! Even though the library part is my favorite, my favorite fairy tale was The Princess And The Pea.’ [sic]
